Hair Loss Solutions: Curing Your Baldness With Surgery
from:Hair loss in many people are believed to be caused by several factors namely, aging, changes in the hormones, family history of baldness, illness, trauma and others. Although some forms of baldness can be cured easily some types of baldness require drastic hair loss solutions. If you are one of those people who baldness is so advanced that natural hair loss solutions are no longer applicable, surgery may be your only option to regain back your lost hair. Yes, surgery is not really a very attractive hair loss solution because of its invasive nature; a lot of people have taken interest in this procedure in the past few years.
What Is Hair Replacement Surgery?
When it comes to hair loss solutions, hair loss surgery is considered as one of the most effective. However, this type of hair loss solution is not really applicable for people who are totally bald. People who have bald patches in their head are the most likely candidate for this type of hair loss solution.
There are at least four major types of hair replacement surgeries namely hair transplant, tissue expansion, flap surgery and scalp reduction. The hair transplant surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures today. This is actually a minor surgery which involves the removal of hair bearing scalp from the back or the side of the patient's head. The scalp grafts are then transplanted into the areas of the head that are balding or thinning. In most cases, this type of surgery does not take a long time to perform and the patient does not have to be confined in a hospital for this purpose. Usually, the patient can go home a few hours after the surgery.
The tissue transplant, instead of taking scalp grafts and transplanting these grafts into the balding area of the head, the doctor places a tissue expander under the hair bearing area of the head. The tissue expander will then cause the skin to grow new cells and produce more hair. This type of hair loss solution is a bit more complicated compared to the hair transplant because the patient will have to undergo two surgery sessions. The first session will be when the doctor places the tissue expander under the hair-bearing area of the hair and the second session is when the doctor places the newly expanded skin over the bald areas of the head.
On the other hand, the flap surgery and the scalp reduction surgery are idea for covering large bald areas of the head. For people who have already almost totally bald, this procedure may be helpful in restoring the hair.
