Hair Loss In Children: Helping Your Child Cope With The Loss Of Their Hair

Young children can be quite insensitive to the baldness of their peers that they often tease a child who is bald. As a result, the child you had lost his or her hair suffer a lot of ridicules from his or her peers that she end up becoming reclusive and would not come out to play with his or her friends. If your child is losing his or hair due to medication or any other causes, you need to find ways on how to make things easier for your child to cope with the situations.
Dealing With Hair Loss In Children
The best way to deal with hair loss in children is to encourage the child concerned to talk about his or her feelings about the whole situation. The more your child talks about how he or she feels about his or her situation, the more he or she will be able to come to terms with the situation. Encourage your child to express his or her fears.
As a parent, you have to be very sensitive when dealing with the issue of hair loss in children. Instead of simply urging your child to go out and play with his or her peers, you need to ask your child what he or she wants to do. If your child is not comfortable to go outside and let his or her peers see his or her bald head, do not force your child to go out. Give your child time to adjust to the current situation. Tell your child that his or her hair will grow back soon and that he or she should not worry too much about it. You may also buy your child a nice toupee or wig that he or she can wear when he or she goes out of the house.
Hair loss in children can be a big issue when it is time for your child to go back to school. If your child is very sensitive about his or her bald head, talk to the teacher at school first before you bring let your child go back to school. Ask the teacher to explain the situation to the rest of the children in the class. Yes, children can be quite cruel at times but they can be very considerate towards their peers if they know that their peers are having a hard time.
