Experiencing hair loss with diabetes
from:Diabetes is a hormone related disorder which can often lead to hair loss or thinning of the hair. Frequent hair loss is considered one of the early symptoms of it, and requires treatment to get rid of further complications. Stress is directly related to diabetes and hair loss because the disease causes excessive anxiety, which in turn becomes the prime cause of hair loss.
Diabetes happens when it becomes difficult for the body to metabolize carbohydrates properly. Diabetics are highly sensitive to skin ailments, as their blood circulation and blood sugar levels are impaired. Bruises and wounds often take a long time to heal therefore the recovery rate is comparatively slower and blocks the re-growth of hair.
This in turn causes visible hair reduction. Bacterial and fungal infections on the scalp because of diabetes could also result in hair loss.
An autoimmune problem because that leads to hair loss
The other cause of hair loss due to diabetes is an autoimmune problem, which can create one or more small bald patches developing on the scalp on the head of the patient. This is called alopecia areata Other additional autoimmune problems like a dysfunctional thyroid gland, the skin rash vitiligo, pernicious anemia, or Type 1 diabetes, often come with it.
Early detection of people with diabetes and hair loss
Diabetes often remains undetected because the symptoms at the early stage are not considered significant and therefore are usually missed or ignored by patients and doctors which can lead to very big problems for the patient because if diabetes is found early it can slow down its harmful effects. Early detection of any of the diabetic symptoms and early treatment could help in early recovery from both diabetes as well as excessive hair loss which can lead to a healthier and happy life. As with most illnesses, it is best if it is caught early.
Hair loss normally begins at the beginning of diabetes and gradually becomes worse after the disease takes charge of the body. It is very important to get the hair loss symptom diagnosed, to know the root cause of hair loss. A person having this problem needs to get doctors advice to avoid further problems with their hair and to avoid any more hair falling out. Using hair lotions and conditioners is not a good idea and will not help solve the problem. Doctors will be able to give the best advice available.
